President of Nigeria Muhammadu buhari assures Nigerians that international bodies will help Nigeria recovers looted funds.

At the presidential villa, President Buhari made a statement while meeting with the Northern traditional rulers that his administration has received a firm assurance of cooperation from the USA and other countries in his quest to recover and repatriate looted funds from the past government.

He also asked Nigerians to provide him with the necessary support with facts and figures needed in his quest to recover the looted funds.

The President also assures the traditional rulers that his administration are working hard to end the insecurity and he also reminded them that they would play a key role in stemming terrorism and insurgency in the country.

US tension over China.....

Tensions between the U.S. and China are growing over its island-building in the South China Sea and over suspicions that Beijing was behind a massive hack into a federal government server that resulted in the theft of personnel and security clearance records of 14 million employees and contractors.
But both powers have incentives to calm the waters ahead of the Chinese leader's visit to Washington in the fall.

The two countries' top diplomats and finance officials meet here next week for the annual U.S.-China strategic and economic dialogue. The Obama administration says the two governments won't be papering over their differences, but they are expected to accentuate the positive, stressing areas of cooperation, like climate change.

Civilian and military officials will meet Monday to discuss thorny security issues. Secretary of State John Kerry and Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew kick off two days of talks Tuesday with Vice Premier Wang Yang and State Councilor Yang Jiechi on a sprawling agenda, including plans for a bilateral investment treaty.

Four Nigeria Refineries to resume production next month...

Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC spokesperson, Mr Ohi Alegbe told AFP that Nigeria’s four refineries, two in Port Harcourt, one in Kaduna and the other one in Warri will resume production next month.

According to Ohi, “The refineries at Warri, Port Harcourt and Kaduna will resume next month after a successful turn-around-maintenance (overhaul) of their facilities. The turn-around-maintenance has been on for some time. We did not just want to make any noise about it. The refineries will start production as soon as they have delivery of crude oil for refining.

The NNPC has four refineries -- two in Port Harcourt in the south, one in northern Kaduna and another in southern Warri, with a combined installed capacity of 445,000 barrels per day.

A network of pipelines and depots located throughout the country link these refineries.

Nigeria produces a massive two million barrels of crude oil a day, but has to export it due to a lack of working refineries. It then imports fuel back into the country at international market prices -- a situation blamed on corruption and mismanagement

350 Boko Haram Terrorist trial-Army

The 350 Boko Haram suspects recommended for trial are only a fraction of the 504 persons currently in detention.
The Army Chief, Abubakar, said that two Joint Investigation Teams have been set up by the defense headquarters to investigate, screen, and categorize suspected insurgents in detention. The files on the suspects were then forwarded to the office of the Attorney General and the Ministry of Justice for further review.

In addition, the Army Chief spoke on the report by the human rights organization, Amnesty International (AI) that alleged war crimes committed by Nigeria’s military. These allegations included reports of 8,000 people murdered, starved, suffocated, and tortured to death. The organization recommended that the new administration work towards ensuring the protection of civilians.

Abubakar stated that the allegations “are a rehash of the same allegations made in 2011.” He said that the only new claim made by Amnesty International was the reported increase of victims of extrajudicial killings from 4,600 to 13,000.
